I am Thom Mahoney, a writer living in the
Front Range of Northern Colorado.
You might like our Flash O'Day
stories. I say "our," because what you will see here really is a collaborative
effort of a bunch of other artists and writers of various kinds. I'll
point them out to you with each story.
Simply put, Flash O'Day stories began as kind of
a game. My life partner, Julia, started leaving images she'd find on
the Internet on our kitchen table, and I would give myself
a few minutes to come up with some idea of a story, then write a 500-word
story in less than 60 minutes based on whatever nonsense I dreamed up.
Now, we all are doing the stories and the art with an idiotic
time limit of around an hour. That's right. Put up or shut up in
an hour. We're scaring ourselves.
That lasted for three months, during which I wrote nearly 70 stories, five
of them which are collected in
Free Flash Five, which is still available on Amazon
here for
a thrifty 90 cents. If you're even remotely motivated, you can find it for
free all over the place.
I also write novels. A lot of them. You can see a list of them, each with
a brief description, on The Books page.
And just because it's a novelty, I'll tell you my writing space is a 40-year-old
cab-over camper in my garage. I've never had it on a truck. I bought it
on Craigslist from a family with three sons over six feet tall, and the
dad and one of the sons brought it on a flatbed and pushed it into my garage.
I love my camper.
Thanks for stopping by. If you care to reach out,
